Before you start the search, take time to revise and prepare your CV. Remember that employers or agencies may have to look through hundreds of CVs, therefore make sure your CV is clear and demonstrates your capability to do the job you are applying for, your CV will play a large part in the decision to invite you for an interview. Providing a well detailed and accurate CV may result in the identification of an opportunity which is more suited to you than that of the one you are applying for.
Organise your CV
Personal and contact data - Name and surname.
- Address.
- Phone numbers, both home line and mobile.
- E-mail, remember your future employer may have to contact you through this email address so keep it professional.
- Nationality.
Objective What are you looking for and why.
Education & Qualification - Highest achieved degree
- Relevant qualifications, certificate
- Further training
- Memberships
Professional experience Start with your most recent employer, and specify the following: - Dates you were employed
- Full company name (describe briefly what the company does).
- Position you held.
- Key responsibilities.
- Biggest achievements and successes.
- Projects you have been employed on (size, duration, budget).
Skills - Language skills
- PC skills
- Driving license
References Any references which are provided will not be contacted prior to discussion and approval by the candidate.
Useful Tips - Modify your CV according to the position you are applying for.
- You may attach your professional picture.
- All the information on your CV must be accurate.
- Avoid using too many colours or fonts.
- Your Curriculum Vitae should not be longer than two A4 pages.
Finally format and spell check – make sure the format, fonts, highlights are consistent throughout and that there are no typing or spelling errors!

One last suggestion: if you are sending your resume to a prospective employer or agency, you should also include a cover letter. We recommend that this is one page long, the letter should indicate your interest in the company or position, summarising the most important aspects of your work experience, and should include contact details for when and where contact or an interview can be held.
